Zonta
of Teaneck Bergenfield Foundation, Inc.
The
mission of the Zonta of Teaneck-Bergenfield Foundation is the
same as that of the Zonta Club of Northern Valley, NJ –
to improve the status of women and to provide service at the
local and global level. The tax-exempt status enjoyed by the
Foundation insures that all money raised goes directly to those
groups and individuals who need it.
The
Foundation was formed as a non-profit 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt
corporation
in 2000, and has a board of elected officers and directors.
The officers are: Marilyn De Feo, President; Carol Parker,
Treasurer;
Marianne Jacobs, Secretary; Kathryn Holmes,
Andrea Pieper, Ruth Weaver, Directors. All members of the
club are members of the Foundation.
The
Foundation is essentially the monetary service arm of the club.
A service budget is prepared by the Foundation Board, and presented
to the Foundation members for approval at the Foundation’s
September meeting.
All
donation requests go through the Foundation Board. After receiving
suggestions from the members, the Foundation Board puts together
a list of charities. The Foundation members then vote as to
which charities will receive the monies collected through the
Foundation’s fundraising efforts. The donations are disbursed
at the May meeting of the Foundation.
An
advantage of having a Foundation is that anyone – members,
private citizens, companies and corporations alike – can
contribute to the Foundation and the donations are tax deductible
under the rules of the Internal Revenue Service of the United
States.
