Zonta Club’s R.A.V.E. ( Rape And Violence Eradication) Walk Set For May 2nd


Bergenfield: The Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield will sponsor its 7th annual “R.A.V.E. (Rape And Violence Eradication) Walk” on Sunday, May 2nd at 12:30. All proceeds will be shared by Shelter Our Sisters and the Rape Crisis Center.

For more than twenty years, both Shelter Our Sisters and the Bergen County Rape Crisis Center of the YMCA of Bergen County have been helping people deal with the trauma of domestic and sexual violence. These organizations provide the practical, emotional, and psychological support needed for survivors to begin the healing process and carry on with their lives.

Zonta is a worldwide business and professional service organization dedicated to improving the status of women. One of the ways that Zonta can accomplish its goal is by assisting organizations such as SOS and the YMCA of Bergen County Rape Crisis Center.

R.A.V.E. Walk participants will assemble at the Teaneck Borough Hall, corner of Cedar Lane and Teaneck Road, and proceed four miles down Teaneck Road into Bergenfield along Washington Avenue to the Bergenfield Borough Hall. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Opening Ceremony at 12:15pm. The Walk begins at 12:30, rain or shine. Transportation back to Teaneck will be available.

There is no registration fee for the R.A.V.E. Walk. The public is invited to join Zonta members in their support of women and children who are victimized by domestic violence and sexual assault. A minimum donation of $20 is needed to participate and to receive a free T-shirt. ($15 for students and those 18 years old and under). Pledges from friends, family and co-workers are encouraged. Tax-deductible donations may be made payable to Zonta of Teaneck-Bergenfield Foundation, Inc.
