Bergenfield: The Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield, at its May 18, 2004 meeting, issued financial grants to worthy individuals and charities totaling over $20,000. Among the local charities were the Bergenfield Good Will Fund, the Centers for Food Action, the Englewood Hospital Chaplaincy, the Friends of Spring House, the Bergen County chapter of Habitat for Humanity, the Institute for Educational Achievement, the Women’s Rights Information Center, and the York Street Project. The club also awarded 3 scholarships.

Two other recipients of grants were the Bergen County Rape Crisis Center and Shelter Our Sisters, Bergen County’s shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield’s annual RAVE Walk (Rape and Violence Eradication) funds both these grants. All monies collected go directly to these two worthy organizations.

The Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield’s fundraising efforts culminate each May with the granting of all funds raised to organizations that, in some way, further its mission, which is to enhance the status of women and children, both globally and locally. The club also contributes to international projects of Zonta International which partners with such United Nations organizations as UNICEF and UNIFEM.

At the same meeting, the club installed its new officers for the biennium 2004-2006. Installed were Andrea Pieper, President, Nancy Patrissi, First Vice President, Karen Nicodemus, Second Vice President, Lisa Szalankiewicz, Treasurer, Kathy Banca, Recording Secretary, Kathy Holmes, Corresponding Secretary, and three directors, Marianne Jacobs, Ruth Weaver and Cindy Mento. The new officers are looking forward to two more years of service to the mission of Zonta.
