A New Name for an Established Zonta Club

Teaneck-Bergenfield Chapter Renamed Zonta Club of Northern Valley, NJ

The Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield, a chapter of Zonta International—a nonprofit organization—has officially adopted a new name, the Zonta Club of Northern Valley, NJ, as of June 1, 2005. In order to represent the growing diversity of its northern New Jersey membership and fundraising activities that primarily support local women’s service agencies, the club has made this significant decision.

Andrea Pieper, chapter president and Tenafly resident, says, “Our members reside in areas beyond Teaneck and Bergenfield that include Cresskill, Tenafly, Edgewater, Ridgefield, Closter and Ringwood, among others. Our membership continues to grow and we want residents of these areas to know they are welcome to join our group.”

The Zonta Club of Northern Valley, NJ was originally chartered on September 12, 1951 as the Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield and remains an integral component of Zonta International, which celebrated its 85th Anniversary last year.

“Our organization’s mission is to improve the status of women worldwide through its chapters’ collective efforts. The Zonta Club of Northern Valley, NJ proudly supports local service agencies such as Shelter Our Sisters and the YWCA of Bergen County Rape Crisis Center,” says Ms. Pieper. “The R.A.V.E. (Rape and Violence Eradication) Walk held every spring raises funds just for these two agencies. The proceeds from our October Fashion Show allow us to donate a significant amount of money to other local agencies, as well as to the Zonta International Foundation to assist in its global programs.”

The Zonta Club of Northern Valley, NJ meets every third Tuesday (September–June)
