Bergenfield - The Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield was recognized by the Zonta International District 3 Governor as the “Club of the Year” at the district’s annual fall conference, which took place in Virginia Beach, Virginia. (District 3 includes Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, District of Columbia, and Virginia.) The Governor’s Award is bestowed upon the club that most exemplifies the mission of Zonta International, that is to improve the status of women both locally and globally. In addition to winning the coveted Governor’s Award, the club won first place in Public Relations and Service. Thanks to our “webmaster” Nancy Patrissi and her public relations committee and Val Heinrich and Helen Rezzonico, co-chairs of the service committee. Zonta was also were awarded honors in the Status of Women and Z Club categories. The president of the Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield, Cindy Mento, was on hand to graciously accept the awards on behalf of our club, as was the Public Relations Chairperson, Nancy Patrissi, whose originality in presenting the club’s mission and events was a key component to the club’s awards in this area.

The conference was a wonderful experience for the ten members from the club who attended. Next year the Harrisburg-Hershey club is hosting the fall conference at The Woodlands Inn & Resort in the Poconos. As the hosting club of the fall 2005 conference, the members of the Zonta Club of Teaneck-Bergenfield officially invited the District 3 members to attend and experience the best that Bergen County has to offer.
